In 1992 when I finished high school I started work as a Storeman at Chubb locksmiths which enabled me to gain valuable product knowledge especially for commercial and residential products. Six months later after being made redundant I started my apprenticeship in Swan Street Richmond where I worked for a year. In 1993 I started as a second year apprentice at Universal locksmiths in Mount Waverley. During my short time there the owner of the business Michael Faulkes treated me like part of his family, and when the company was bought by API locksmiths in 1994 he made sure that I was given the chance to continue my apprenticeship at API locksmiths as part of the takeover. For the next 21 years at API locksmiths I moved my way through the ranks becoming Victorian API Operations Manager. In August 2015 a restructure of API locksmiths forced me to make the decision to start up Universal Locksmiths once again, which is where I had my best memories as a young apprentice. At Universal locksmiths whether for commercial  or residential Locksmithing, I strive to provide the best customer service possible which is what the original founder Michael Faulkes instilled into me as a young apprentice. I want this business to have the same family like feel that was instilled in me, so when people deal with Universal locksmiths I want people be glad they did. Sadly Michael passed away on 30 November 2015 And will be dearly missed. Rest in peace Michael and thank you.
